I don't think it bad to compete with each other and make better products and services.
But if people and small companies such as franchizee shop owners and their employees start to suffer its bad side as a result of the excessive competition, that is "Putting the cart before the horse.
Shops used to be closed on Sundays and National holidays.
Supermarkets and stores were opened around 10:00 in the morning and closed around 19:00 and 20:00. It was not convenient but we thought the customs quite natural.

Needless to say, it is, from the customers' point of view, convenient if a nearby convenience store opens 24/7. because it assures consumers that its can meet urgent demands for goods or services that may occur when other stores are closed.
But, how often in a year does such urgency occur?
Residents near a convenience store seldom drop by in the midnight while the pay for the graveyard shift staff is higher than that during the daytime.
As they are private businesses which pursue profit, they may well come up with an idea of discontinuing an ineffective around-the-clock operation.
