今神栗八
It was not my friend but a kind of my mentor who gave me a valuable piece of advice when I was 30 years old. I was about to take over my parents' company and I felt fear about that. I was supposed to take all responsibilities for the business but I had no confidence. My mentor, after having listened to my confession of cowardice, introduced to me a word that consisted of two Chinese characters; "teikan". The word meant to be in a state of yielding yourself to destiny. Embracing the situation I was going into and preparing for it was what just I should do at that time. Just embrace it, not even in a positive way, let alone in a negative way. I have treasured the word since then.
