Akashi City, Hyogo prefecture is famous for octopuses and locally the peak season for them is around Hangesho, which is now.

Hangesho is the name of one of 72 seasonal datum points of the Japanese calender when octopuses become tastiest in a year.

I went octopus fishing in this best season and caught dozens.

By the way, do you use fishing rods to catch octopuses? I thought you use some pots with a rope instead of rods.

I cannot touch octopuses directly, but raw octopuses taste marvelous, still more the ones served soon after being caught.

In order to catch octopuses, we use fishing rods and reels with a few lures immitating small beit fish set on the end of the line systems.

Mostly small, but dozens were caught.
